Up until a few years ago, to coarse fish in the same spot with three different seeds was unimaginable. However, experience showed that simultaneous use of corn, wheat and hemp is not only possible, but also gives excellent results!

This fishing technique is available to everyone and does not demand any particular skills. It is necessary to use suitable tackle, telescopic rod with bolognese type guides and enough polyvalent system.

Why is this effective? Simply on account of the seed density! Namely, when you throw those three seeds in the river on the same spot, they spread around in different zones on the water floor. Corn, the heaviest, is first to reach the bottom, at the beginning of the feeding line. Wheat, somewhat lighter, stops a few meters behind, while hemp takes its spot at the end of the row. This is exactly what makes this technique so interesting!

In the water, just as any other place, there exists a certain hierarchy of life. In other words, might makes right. Large fish, carp, barbel... take the best spot at the beginning of the row. They are followed by medium sized fish, large roach, bream… which can only be fed after the largest fish. At the end, a few meters below, roach have the right to fight for the remains… Besides, different seed sizes enable a variety of catch, because the size of the fish caught equals the size of the offered bite!

Numerous simultaneous catches

This Summer fishing is designed for zones with regular water stream, with clean the water floor and at 5 to 20 meters distance from the shore. However, the warmer it is, the deeper the zones you have to look for. Generally one can say that the fishing location of 2,5 to 3 m depth is good and that it is possible to gather here all fish kinds which live in that environment. Coarse fish during Summer have an excess of energy and therefore they need something more concrete, and in great quantities!

To take as much advantage from three seed fishing as possible, it would be best to simultenously keep more fishing locations. Because if you fish in the same spot on more consecutive days, at the end the area is exhausted of fish, in other words, you catch most of the available fish. It is therefore desirable to shortly leave this location and let it renew, and during that time try your luck someplace else. Two or three fishing locations a few kilometers apart from each other, different in their depth, speed of water flow, always offer the possibilities for something good to unravel!

A-groundbaiting zone, B-corn zone, C-wheat zone, D-hemp zone. Fishing action begins at the end of the groundbaiting zone, and ends at the end of the hemp zone.

Seed preparation and groundbainting

It is possible to use seeds which are already prepared for use, cooked and prepared under vacuum or with conserving matter. Still it would be best to get them raw, and a good quantity of 4-5 kg of each kind.
Cooking differs already according to the seeds kind. For hemp, 15-20 minutes is enough. Seeds need to be strained and washed in cold water as soon as white sprouts appear. For wheat, 40 to 45 minutes is enough, while for corn, an hour and 20 minutes till hour and 15 minute minimum. Regardless of the seed type, 24 hours of soaking cuts in half the cooking time.

Seeds which wil be used in groundbaiting cannot be overcooked. On the contrary, they need to stay hard enough so as to hold well on the hook. You need to therefore timely separate a certain amount for that purpose, and leave others for groundbaiting.

It is best to set apart a few days for groundbaiting with familiarization*. Half a kilo of hemp, 1 kg of wheat and 2 kg of corn, assorted in daily quantities, enable gathering of all starved fish in the zone. On day D, you throw the seeds at the same spot, if possible, with hand or sling, in case the fishing location's distance exceeds 10 meters. The stronger the current and deeper the location, the more upstream you need to throw!

At the beginning it is necessary to throw ten hemp seeds, every three or four casts. It must be made clear that with the very first few bites, you need to groundbait with wheat every other time. However, as soon as the large fish appear, it is desirable to come out with all three seeds. It is most important to always keep the same groundbaiting rhythm, so as to regularly take care of the fishing location! The only thing that changes is the quantity: it grows as the bites are more frequent!

System of a knotless tapered leader* type system: body 0,14 mm, float of 1-2 g, 1 m to 0,12 mm, 1 m from 0,10 mm, leader 40 cm from 0,08 mm, hook of hard white iron number 16, leads: olive, 2 leads number 4, bite indicator number 10.

Change your pleasures

The attraction of this technique is that you can switch in a few seconds from one to another seed. After you catch a roach, expect larger catches. At every transition, the bite can be different. The bite of roach on the hemp is always fast, almost fiesty, and you need to react strongly, and very fast. But with corn or wheat you need to let the fish swallow the hook and wait while the float entirely dives. The bites are followed in a row, but are not similar, the fish are lined up, but are also not the same!

Float adjustability is of extreme importance! The bait is lifted off the ground for approximately 3-4 cm if you fish with hemp seeds, it passes just above the bottom, in case of wheat, and freely drags on the ground, 10 cm and more, if you use corn. Various, three seed fishing is most surely the best game technique for white coarse fishing, when it comes to the art of decisiveness and intellectual gymnastics of the angler!

When it is not possible to repeat the previous groundbaiting, 1 kg of ready ground bait designed for large river fish, sticky and made up of small particles, will do. After you sprinkle it with water in which you previously cooked hemp, it is necessary to leave the mixture to swell up 10 to 15 minutes, and then add a fistful of hemp, wheat and corn. Balls the size of oranges are thrown into the fishing location, but after the first bites you start additional feeding with clean seeds.

Remonter   * groundbaiting with familiarization: groundbaiting performed more days in a row before the beginning of fishing, so as to acquaint the fish with the offered food, location and time of feeding.
* knotless tapered leader: leader made up of more pieces of monofilament line of different length and diameters connected with knots; is used especially with flyfishing, and is set up between the silk and the tip.
